Time: 45 Minutes

Overview: This group fitness class is 90% strength training and 10% cardio. During this high intensity, low impact strength training class your heart pumping and your muscles are burning. Circuit times vary, but but you never stop moving, which makes the class fly by! Class incorporates a mixture of kettlebells, free weights, and medicine balls. You choose your weights and intensity, great class for all levels of fitness.

1. What keeps you busy?

My family, especially my one year old daughter, Caroline, who keeps me on my toes! My two other 24/7 jobs are real estate and blogging. I’m a real estate broker and I specialize in helping people buy & sell their homes in Chicago and the North Shore. The spring real estate market is officially here and definitely keeping me busy!  I also run a motherhood, life & style focused blog called, katiecassman.com. I share adventures with my daughter, my favorite places to eat in Chicago & the north shore and other snippets of my life & style along the way! 

2. How do you practice self-care?

I try to eat lots of protein, fruits and vegetables throughout the week and allow myself to indulge on the weekends. I just started mixing vital proteins into my morning coffee to hopefully help my hair post-baby. My favorite self-care practice is my weekly therapy sessions. I've learned a lot about myself through talk therapy and consider myself to be a lifer.

3. How do you keep active?

Having a toddler has made me a whole new level of active. I love to get my exercise from walking and playing sports - tennis, paddle tennis and golf.

A water bottle, headphones & gum.

Studio + Location: SPENGA in Downers Grove 
Class: Spenga Signature 
Time: 60 minutes 
Overview:  A hour long session that combines 20 minutes of high intensity spinning, 20 minutes of tabata style strength training, and 20 minutes of revitalizing yoga. Go hard for each round and you'll leave feeling energized and sweaty. You can do anything for 20 minutes!

Studio + Location: Zen Yoga Garage in Bucktown
Class: Zen Vinyasa 1-2
Time: 60 Minutes
Overview: This beginners yoga class is perfect for those looking to start a yoga practice or for those who want to perfect their poses. Class is heated to a comfortable 85-90 degree temperature. Class is lead by an instructor, but allows you to flow through at your own pace, while working up a sweat. A slow flow with the use of blocks and a strap works on strengthening and lengthening throughout the hour class.

1.  What keeps you busy? 

Since launching Game Set, my schedule has been pretty packed. I'm married and have two young children, age 6 and 4. I'm also co-charing the fundraising efforts for a charity gala in March. You can most often find me nowadays shuttling my son and daughter between school and activities, hosting pop up shops for Game Set, or at The Soho House on my laptop.

2. How do you practice self-care?

I really love this topic and would say that I had a number of years in which I didn't know what self-care really was. Once I had kids, I began to take notice, but focused a lot on tangible ways to practice. Over the past year, I've changed my mindset a lot around what I consider self-care. In the past I would have said, going to the gym or sneaking away for a massage or manicure, which I totally still do. However, today I would say that I also consider inward ways to practice, like nurturing only positive relationships, saying 'no' more often when something doesn't feel right, and really diving head first into my passions. 

3.  How do you keep active?

I enjoy changing up my workouts from day to day - It's the only way I can stay motivated! On any given week I may do pilates, a HIIT class, an outdoor run, ride the Peloton bike, or play tennis.

4. What's in your gym bag?

My gym essentials are always a change of top and post workout sweatshirt or jacket, headphones, and a water bottle.

Overview: The Pilates Pro Works signature class combines resistance, lengthening, and strength training. This high-energy class is done on the FitFormer pilates machine, similar to a reformer. Upbeat music fuels this total body workout, with the help of free weights and pilates ring and ball.

1. What keeps you busy?

School keeps me busy at ALL times, the studying is endless. During the school year, the library is like a second home. Aside from school, I am a babysitter and I absolutely love it! I am also busy taking care of my adorable pup and spending time with my family and friends as well as constantly eating out at chipotle with my boyfriend. 


2. How do you practice self-care?

For my self-care regimen, I take multi-vitamins for women every day as well as other daily supplements for iron, protein, etc. Also, I really enjoy eating healthy to take care of my body inside and out!  I do not eat meat and eat little to no dairy so my eating habits are almost entirely vegan. These eating habits have shown such drastic changes to my body and health both physically and mentally. I am also very dedicated to taking the best possible care of my skin! I have a very specific skin care routine that I have developed over the years to find out what works best for me and its something I'm religious about now! 

3. How do you keep active?

I keep active by going to the gym at least 4 to 6 times a week, taking my dog out for runs or walks, and playing soccer every week. I love to be active and many times a day at the gym will get swapped for rock climbing or hot yoga! There is so much I love to do and not enough time so it seems like I'm always on the go to the next activity. 

4. What's in your gym bag?

My gym bag is geared up with a variety of resistance bands, a jump rope, boxing gloves, shoes specifically for the gym, water bottle and of course headphones! 


5. My top 5 Healthy snacks:

1.  What keeps you busy? 

A lot! On any given day I can be found driving my kids to and from school, practicing yoga, taking a conference call for work, going on a run, getting my kids to and from their activities, dinner with my husband or friends or bingeing a favorite show.  

2. How do you practice self-care?

I try and allow myself many of the things I strive to give others – time, acceptance, humor, and love. Yoga does so much for me both physically and mentally. I’m trying to work on meditation. I also need to laugh with my girlfriends and spend time alone with my husband to keep life in balance. Staying active definitely fuels me, but I also love low key nights, a simple movie with my kids or taking a nap when I need it. 

3.  How do you keep active?

My 4 and 6-year-old daughters keep me very busy! I love being as involved as I can with their school, activities and at home. When I’m not with them, I enjoy a yoga class, getting together with a friend, seeing my parents, cooking (when I have the time and energy) and working on my consulting business.

Wear We Sweat - FlyBarre

Studio + Location: FlyWheel Sports in Old Town

Class: FlyBarre Power 45

Time: 45 minutes 

Overview: Not your typical barre class. This is an upbeat and quick class that gets every part of your body burning! Each song focuses on a different body part. Once the song is over, you're done with that area. The class focuses on glutes, arms, core, and thighs. Great for toning muscle! We highly recommend Elena's class in Old Town. She has a great attitude and we love her positive energy!  

Gear Needed: Water bottle! Flywheel provides towels, but that's all you need. Some people wear grippy socks in class, while others don't wear socks. It's a personal preference! 

What to Wear: For this upbeat class, we suggest wearing tight fitted clothing. We suggest this Thrive Societe Crop Top and these Koral leggings

1.  What keeps you busy? 

My three jobs keep me pretty busy! I sell residential real estate in the city, as well as run a fashion and lifestyle blog called Lake and Luxury Chi. I also am the assistant buyer, stylist and social media manager for Game Set! 

2. How do you practice self-care?

My idea of self-care is indulging in a face mask one a week. My favorite one is the Charcoal Mask from Origins.

3.  How do you keep active?

I love taking classes. I find it hard to get motivated alone at the gym, so I stick with ClassPass to hold myself accountable. If I miss a class that I've signed up for, they charge me $20. So I try really hard not to miss a class! I love the spinning and barre classes at FlyWheel. But I also love a good high intensity workout at Shred415 or SWEAT. 

4. What's in your gym bag?

 I typically carry my headphones, face cleansing wipes, gum, and my water bottle.
